The crop has to work so hard to extract moisture from the soil that it comes at the expense of growth.

Start sprinkling. Because of evaporation, measurements will otherwise come out ‘in the red’ within a few days.

The crop has to struggle to extract moisture from the soil. It is still growing, but irrigation should be started soon.
